When traveling or working, most people will need to rent a motel or hotel room to sleep. Many people have the habit of checking in and relaxing immediately quickly, without paying attention to their surroundings. However, this is a mistake. After you’ve checked in, check to see if there’s anything strange in the room.
1. Two-way mirror
Mirrors in hotel rooms are normally one-way. However, you should inspect all mirrors thoroughly to avoid two-way mirror issues. Two-way mirrors allow users to see the image in the room from the other end and can also be used to conceal a camera.
Two-way mirrors will provide distinct picture reflections than one-way mirrors. People standing in front of a two-way mirror can see their reflection like they would in a regular mirror, but the opposite side can readily observe us.
To determine whether the mirror is a two-way mirror, place your fingertip on it. A one-way mirror has a gap between the finger and its reflection. A two-way mirror, on the other hand, is one in which the tip of the finger touches the reflection without leaving any gap in between.
2. Hidden cameras
Hotel rooms are private spaces for guests. Most hotel owners do not plan to place cameras in other guests’ rooms. Cameras are only installed in public places for security purposes. However, some people with nefarious intentions may rent a room and install secret recording equipment without the hotel personnel or guests’ knowledge.
As a result, before checking into a hotel, you should thoroughly inspect the room to avoid unpleasant situations that could be caught by a concealed camera.
The checking method is quite straightforward. Close the drapes and turn off all lights to make the room completely dark. Then, enable the phone’s video recording mode and begin recording around the room. If you find spots with green or red dots, carefully inspect them to determine if there is a concealed camera.
You can use your phone’s camera to see if there is anything odd that resembles a concealed camera in the hotel or motel room.
You can also use your phone’s flashlight to illuminate the room. Hidden cameras will reflect the light from the lamp. When you notice places that appear suspicious, investigate further.

3. Dirty faucets and showers
After checking in, carefully inspect the room’s hygiene, particularly the faucets and showers. If you notice symptoms of filth that have accumulated over time but have not been cleansed, you should take note. You can also remove the shower head and inspect the water pipes.
