Akins Akinkugbe, the Co-executive producer of Flawsome, known for the co-production of the notable web series ‘The Men’s Club’, revealed during the screening of Flawsome that the story was born out of the need to tell stories of women that are not cliche.

The screening of Showmax’s Flawsome, which was held on Thursday, November 10, 2022, had top Nollywood acts and executives in attendance as they all shared why telling the story of women in the right way is necessary.

The co-executive producer of Flawsome reiterated that there is more to women than telling stories that show women at variance with one another or jostling for a man.

“We’ve always wanted to tell a story of women that is not cliche because generally what you see on the screen is women trying to get men. There is more to women than that, women are doing great things holding a fabric of society together. Let’s stay away from the ‘my man’ back and forth and have women together.”

Tola Odunsi, the executive director of Flawsome, agrees with this as he added that there is no point in telling a story that does not connect with the viewers.

“I like stories that truly connect, there is no point making content for yourself. You want people to watch it and say this is me and my best friend, that’s me and my mum. It was all about that connection and also putting women centre stage.”

This is why one of Nollywood’s top actors, Gabriel Afolayan, chose this project. According to the award-winning Nollywood star, ‘if it’s for women’s cause, let’s do it! The story was attractive and I love good stories.”

Flawsome is a 13-part drama series that follows the lives of four friends, Ifeyinwa (Bisola Aiyeola), Ramat (Ini Dima-Okojie), Ivie (Sharon Ooja), and Dolapo (Enado Odigie), as they navigate their personal and professional lives bound by the flawed yet unbreakable ties they share.
