There was palpable apprehension as a blast of unknown objects rocks Lokoja, capital of Kogi state.
The blast occurred on the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Kogi State Government (SSG) and some ministries and Agencies.
The loud explosion was heard around 8.30 as journalists started gathering in preparation for the day’s assignments.
When contacted, the state Commissioner of Police Edward Egbuka confirmed the explosion.
According to the CP” Yes, what happened was “we were informed of a package in a polythene bag was left on the premises and I immediately deployed the bomb disposal unit to assess the object.
“The object was immediately blown up, the explosion you heard was the handwork of our bomb disposing unit brought about by their efforts to blow up the object.
The investigation has also commenced ascertaining what the object was.
