K.O Grabs Spotify’s Top Local Honours. K.O.’s single SETE is now set as the song of the year, as the SR3 album lead single has continued to break music chart records.
Spotify’s best-performing artists for the year have been revealed, with K.O‘s Sete taking home some of the top local plaudits. The song that featured Blxckie and Young Stunna will be the major highlights in the SA music industry in 2022.
Taking to Twitter, the SkhandaWorld boss could not hold his excitement after the single has been crowned the most streamed song in South Africa this year. “SETE has been crowned the most streamed song of 2022 in SA on @spotify. Kuzamekile. @YOUNGSTUNNA_ZA @blxckie___ ngiyaphakamisa,” tweeted K.O.
The award-winning rapper shared his Spotify Wrapped and which shows how SETE performed on the charts this year. Taking from the chart, SETE came out as the most-hearted song on Spotify and the most song that was on repeat in South Africa.
Even though SETE has been dominant in other aspects, the landmark Master KG song Jerusalem remains the most exported song. Amapiano, led by Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, was easily the most streamed genre.
Not only has SETE dominated the Spotify chart, but the single is the only hip-hop song to have made it onto Apple Music’s list of the most played songs in South Africa this year. According to the statistics gathered by Spotify local music consumption has increased by 85% between 2021 and this year. On the other side, Burna Boy and Bad Bunny were Apple Music’s two biggest winners.
