Kizz Daniel Makes History With Solo Performance At Qatar World Cup

Multiple Nigerian artistes have broken records this year, with Tems bagging three nominations at the 65th Grammy nominations and Kizz Daniel being the first Nigerian artiste to perform at the World Cup.

On November 23, 2022, the music star graced Qatar to perform his hit singles ‘Cough’ and ‘Buga’, which caused rave reactions among the 50,000 audience at the FIFA Fan Festival. During his performance, he paid tribute to Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti with a performance of his 1972 hit single, ‘Lady’. 

Kizz Daniel’s performance at the Fan Festival is not only a great feat at this stage of his career, but a testament to how far Nigerian music has made waves internationally, with both new age and old artistes getting the recognition they deserve.

On the other hand, multi-award-winning singer Davido also made history at the Qatar world cup with his participation in the making of the world cup soundtrack ‘Hayya Hayya (Better Together)’ alongside artistes like Aisha and Trinidad Cardona. 

Although the music star could not perform at the World Cup due to personal issues, he made history as he became the First Nigerian to be featured on the Official Soundtrack Of the FIFA World Cup. Kizz Daniel also became the first Nigerian artiste to perform at the World Cup.
