Mayibabo is one of the songs from Kwesta‘s Dakar II album that rocked the airwaves and the contribution of ft. DJ Buckz and OkMalumkoolkat. Speaking in an interview, Makwa named Mayibabo as one of his favourite songs to come out of his production and the reason being Okmalumkoolkat’s verse.

Even though the Durban rapper gave arguably the best verse on the song, Makwa claimed that the rapper was hesitant to record it, which is why it is the longest on the song. “He didn’t even want to record that verse. We had to convince him and beg him to get into the studio, but he was refusing,” he said. “It’s actually the longest verse on the song.”

With 22 tracks, the Dakar II album avoided boredom, which was not expected for a hip-hop album of that stature. The contribution of big-name SA rappers made the album one of Kwesta’s greatest works to date. The body of work went on to win two awards for Best Album Of The Year and Male Artists Of The Year at SAMA23.
