Kenyan content creator David Oyando, alias Mulamwah, has recently voiced his concerns regarding a growing trend among male content creators who dress in feminine outfits.
Through his Insta stories, the comedian expressed his worry that such content creators are setting a detrimental example to the young audience who look up to them as role models.
He urged influencers to be more responsible in their actions, considering the influence they wield over their impressionable followers.
“Btw hii story ya wanaume kuvaa kama wamama ilitokea wapi, it’s slowly becoming a normal thing hii Kenya yetu, sikatai kila nyani na starehe yake, but I think if you have influence, tumia kama kioo cha jamii, juu watoto wanaona and they look up to you guys.. Sio freshi ndume kudunga kata k*nd* bana,” he wrote.
Mulamwah’s concerns came just a day after popular content creator Terrence Creative posted photos of himself dressed in a white flowy dress, causing a stir on the internet. Many Kenyans had mixed reactions, with discussions and thought-provoking comments flooding Terrence’s comment section.
This trend of male content creators dressing in feminine attire follows closely on the heels of Bahati and Kabi Wajesus, who made headlines by participating in a popular TikTok challenge.
The challenge involved wives giving their handbags to their husbands, who would then act out how they feel while holding them. In a humorous manner, these men portrayed women by wearing lipstick and cute dresses during the transitions.
The trend is meant to explain the fragility of the male ego when asked to do female-related roles, in this case carrying a woman’s handbag.
“Ladies, this is how your man feels when you give him your handbag 👜 to hold for you 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Aki babe kila mtu ajibebee vitu zake aaarg!,” Bahati captioned.
“This is why I stopped carrying my wife’s handbag 😂🤣!!! Someone, please explain to me what just happened???” Kabi wrote on his page.
