Mother to Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, Dr R. B. Adebanjo-Akindele, is dead.
Olubunmi Akindele, sister to the actress, announced the sad passing in a statement released Tuesday, February 7, 2023, expressing her grief and asking for privacy during this difficult time.
“It is with heavy hearts, but in total submission to God Almighty that the ADEBANJO and AKINDELE families announce the passing of their daughter, mother, grandmother and sister, DR. R B ADEBANJO-Akindele, which occurred on Tuesday 07 February 2023.
“May her gentle soul begin its rest eternal in peace. Amen. Obsequies in honour of her passing shall be announced in due course,” she wrote.
Though she spent her time away from the public eye, Dr Racheal Adebanjo-Akindele, on account of her daughter’s fame, had been lauded as Mama Jenifa and was a medical doctor by profession. She celebrated her last birthday on June 19, 2022, as her three children celebrated her on social media.
Fans and colleagues of Funke Akindele are already taking to social media to express their condolences and support, offering their thoughts and prayers to the actress and her family as they navigate this challenging time.
Funke Akindele is a highly successful Nigerian actress and has starred in many popular movies over the years. She is also a philanthropist, known for her charitable work and contributions to various causes.
