The record label once housed some of the biggest names in South African music, including Nasty C, Gigi Lamayne, Maraza, and Zakwe, to name a few. According to Zimoja, Mabala Noise record label has lost the last artist standing a Durban-native singer who goes by the name Mnqobi Yazo. “He was the last artist standing,” an insider told the publication.

The reported closure of Mabala Noise has triggered reactions amongst the SA hip-hop followers with Rashid Kay taking a dig at the record label. Taking to Twitter, Rashid Kay described Mabala’s reported misfortune with an idiom “I blew it.”

As if that was not enough the veteran rapper went on to give a sly response towards Mabala after DJ Lemonka remarked that the record label killed the entire hip-hop game. “This label f*cked up the entire game.” Tweeted Lemonka. In response, Rashid said; “The harder they come, the harder they fall.”

Despite reports that Mabala Noise has closed its doors, the record label holds its financial power. According to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), the company is “not in process of liquidation on Feb 4, 2023.” As per Zimoja.
