Renowned Kenyan musician, Suzanna Owiyo, has spoken out against the escalating political tensions and police brutality in the country.

Through her Instagram, Owiyo expressed her outrage and denounced the political circus that seems to be overshadowing the genuine concerns of the Kenyan people.

She called upon politicians to prioritize the welfare of the citizens and put their interests ahead of personal agendas.

In her statement, Suzanna expressed deep concern about the escalating police brutality and the hardships faced by the majority of Kenyans who are living in conditions of anger and hunger. She urged the nation to unite and raise their voices against the violence and injustices being perpetrated on innocent civilians.

“How I wish politicians would put the interest of Kenyans first. The Police brutality we are witnessing is uncalled for. Too much political circus at the expense of Kenyans. It’s not time for chest-thumping. The majority of Kenyans are angry and hungry. Life is becoming unbearable. We need to raise our voices and call these men to order,” she said.

Her statement comes in the wake of a three-day demonstration organized by the Azimio movement, which tragically resulted in the loss of more lives due to the use of excessive force by the police.

One of the harrowing incidents that came to light involved a 19-year-old student known as Fidel Castro, who is currently admitted to Rongo Teaching Referral Hospital after receiving nine bullets in his chest after his home was invaded.

On Saturday, Azimio La Umoja accused the government of carrying out what they call a “genocide in Luoland,” specifically in regions such as Kisumu, Migori, Homa Bay and parts of Nairobi, including Kibra and Mathare.

According to Azimio, innocent people are being targeted, pulled out of their homes, and shot or beaten to death by police officers.

They said in rural areas like Migori and parts of Homa Bay, police are said to be conducting violent attacks, resulting in loss of lives.

The situation, as described by Azimio, is deeply troubling, indicating an organized and planned series of attacks that have dehumanized the victims.
