Tito Mboweni continues to wear face masks: ‘We’re not out of the woods’

With face masks no longer legally required in public spaces, South Africans are enjoying the freedom and joys of life pre-pandemic…

…except that Covid-19 has not disappeared and life as we know it will never be the same.

TITO MBOWENI: ‘WE’RE NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET’

One public figure who is still pro-face masks is former Minister of Finance Tito Mboweni.

The former statesman has been vocal about his preference for covering his face, despite Covid restrictions being completely withdrawn.

Sharing pics of himself wearing a disposable mask, he tweeted: “The mask is still your best protector in public spaces! We are not completely out of the woods yet”.

Tito has previously been mocked for even wearing his face masks indoors – and during a haircut!

MARK PILGRIM IS NOT DITCHING FACE MASKS EITHER

Another celeb who is not binning his face masks is radio personality Mark Pilgrim.

But for the Hot 1027 presenter, staying safe from the virus is a matter of life and death. Mark is currently battling stage four lung cancer but becoming infected with Covid-19 can have dire repercussions.

Speaking to The South African, Mark revealed why he was a firm believer in face masks.  He said: “Being immune-compromised, I don’t wear a mask around the home amongst family members, but still prudent for me to wear it at indoor venues where there are mass gatherings, such as inside a shop, etc.”
