Tizeti CEO awards scholarships to Uniben students
The Chief Executive Officer of Tizeti, an Internet service provider in West Africa, Kendall Ananyi, has awarded a scholarship to the graduating class of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Benin.
This grant is the continuation of a program started in 2021 that demonstrates the company’s commitment to upskilling and providing professional opportunities to many Nigerian youths.
The Chief Executive Officer of Tizeti, Kendall Ananyi, stated that the company’s decision to award the grant was motivated by its desire to support the growth and development of Nigerian youths interested in pursuing a career in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The grant will pay tuition fees for the students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 and above.
Speaking about the scholarship, Ananyi said, “We are proud to support the Class of 2023 of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering program at the University of Benin. At Tizeti, we believe that investing in the education of Nigerian youths is critical to building a bright future for the country. The University of Benin is especially close to my heart as I was in that class and school over two decades ago.
My experience, as a Chevron University Scholarship Scheme recipient transformed my life and drives Tizeti’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote academic excellence and provide opportunities for young people to develop their skills and fulfill their potential.
And while we started this at the University of Benin in 2021, we plan to extend it to other states and Universities, to enable us to build our front-line workforce by taking brilliant graduates with no experience and transforming them into job-ready, fully qualified professionals in Information and Communications Technology. This will aid our expansion across Nigeria, initially in the ten states we have recently launched in, and subsequently, as we recruit across Nigeria’s 36 states.”
The Scholarship initiative is part of the Tizeti #PayItForward Program, which supports brilliant graduating students at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of African universities in its area of operation with the right skills and experiences for career growth in technology while providing Tizeti with talented young graduates.
The Head of Department, of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, University of Benin, Prof (Mrs.) Patience Orukpe, said “We are privileged to have Tizeti around to assist the students, as they continue to award students’ scholarships, provide internships as well as placement for Youth Service. What Tizeti is doing is in line with the vision of our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lilian I. Salami and I want to thank the CEO and the management team for the job well done and we look forward to more opportunities of working with Tizeti.”
